Air Slaves

2017 • Projects

Prepare for a future in which the only way of making a living is to ‘lend your lung' to filter heavily polluted air. Clean Air International Inc. (CAI) is looking for suppliers for its first Organic Clean Air (TM) retail store. Air Slaves is a speculative dystopian art installation that provides a captivating commentary that highlights the increasing global pollution crisis, but its poignancy filters out wider than that. Issues of ownership and collective responsibility are explored and the immersive aspects really allow participants to reconsider the relationship between the needs of human beings and the environment, both socially and technologically constructed.

This new version of the Air Project was part of the 30rd Transmediale / CTM Vorspiel Festival in Berlin. 6-8 February 2017, @Collegium Hungaricum Berlin. Here's an interview about the project on We Make Money Not Art.
