Exceptional Abilites

2026 • DATA_BASED ARTWORKS

The core idea of the sculpture is to reflect on exceptional abilities through the presentation of a pair of proportions, highlighting how individuals can produce system-level intellectual achievements that far exceed statistical expectations. The smaller circle represents “one unit”: the statistical expectation of how many Nobel laureates a country the size of Hungary would be expected to have based on demographic factors. The larger circle represents fifteen times that area — reflecting the actual proportion evident in the number of Nobel Prize winners of Hungarian origin.

Commissioned and completed for the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office on the occasion of its 130th anniversary.
